In-House Leagues
OVERVIEW
In-House Leagues Overview
In-House leagues focus on teaching the fundamentals of baseball, with the level of competition increasing as players grow and develop. Participants have the opportunity to learn the game, be part of a team environment, and build their skills in a positive, supportive setting. The time commitment is less than Travel League, allowing more youth the opportunity to participate. Leagues are divided by grade level:
-
Northwoods League: Grades 2–3
-
Minor League: Grades 4–5 and 9U Travel
-
Major League: Grades 6–8
In-House Registration
Registration for In-House leagues takes place in the spring. AYBA will announce when registration opens for all In-House leagues. Parents will register their player(s) through this website. Players must be registered in advance to attend league evaluations. Evaluations are held each year and are used to place players on teams. No players are cut from In-House evaluations or teams.
Northwoods League
The Northwoods League includes players currently in 2nd and 3rd grade. This league combines instructional time with games to help players continue developing their skills. Team names reflect the Northwoods League (collegiate-level) teams that our local Alexandria organization previously participated in. Games are played at local district fields on Monday and Wednesday evenings, with start times at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Each team will play approximately 12–14 regular season games and will also participate in an end-of-season tournament.
Minor League
The Minor League includes players currently in 4th and 5th grade, along with 9U Travel players. Team names are based on Minor League affiliates of professional baseball organizations. Games are played at local district fields on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with start times at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Each team will play approximately 12–14 regular season games and participate in an end-of-season tournament.
Major League
The Major League includes players currently in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Team names reflect Major League baseball organizations. Games are played at local district fields on Monday and Wednesday evenings, with start times at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Each team will play approximately 12–14 regular season games and will also participate in an end-of-season tournament.
End-of-Season Tournament
All leagues will wrap up the season with a home tournament. This will be a three-day weekend tournament hosted in Alexandria.
